I was looking at another board, and they were talking about the alternate ending to SLY b/t Eddie and Jane, and they said it was on the DVD...unfortunately, my copy has pretty crappy special features, with NO deleted scenes or alternate endings! Anyone have any suggestions on where I could see the other ending w/o buying another DVD that has this stuff??
i know how you feel see if your local library has the copy of Someone Like You with the alternate Ending and copy it. I just bought a copy of SLY recently and when I saw that it didn't have any special feature, I got mad but then I realized that I can see the Alternate ending when i pick up the dvd at work. Try the library...they might actually come through for you ~Di

I bought my copy of SLY on Half.com. I think VocalLizzy did as well and our copies DO have the extras and the Alternate ending! Best thing with half.com is that you can ask the seller if the DVD you're buying will have the alternate ending or not!! I only paid about 11 or 12 dollars for it..I LOVE half.com!! I've gotten many other discounted DVD's from them as well!
When I looked for SLY online, I asked the seller whether it was the edition with the extended scenes before I bought. For some reason, as you've discovered, there are two disparate versions. I LOVE the alternate ending on the roof ("fiddling" on the roof?), even though it looks a bit shoddily filmed. It reminds me, in a small way, of a certain scene in "Body Heat."

I found a copy that I am going to order, but I have a $.99 coupon for Blockbuster, so maybe I can just rent the other version in the meantime...here's hoping that they have it.... I am all about any romantic scenes that he is in, and I'd love to see this one too...
Ok, I went to Blockbuster and rented the older version, and the alternate ending was HOT! Man, to be Ashley Judd in that scene...
Anyways, I have a question. What did Eddie say in between the kissing in the rain? It was when he looked up at the sky...I can't figure it out.... thanks for your help!!!
Am I the only one who doesn't like the alternate ending? I was so glad they reshot the ending, although it seems someone could have come up with something better than that one, too. I really like SLY -- more than most people do, I think; probably because I like the Eddie character -- but it did have a lot of weaknesses. HJ wasn't one of them though! But I didn't go for that first ending. Nice to have it included on the DVD, though; we'll take any footage we can get! Cath
I could do w/o most of the Diane Roberts show part...just get to the important stuff, the rooftop scene!!! I think I've watched it like 12 times b/t last night and this morning...I am insane, I guess...
Rosemary, the hair, I know!! It actually almost ruined the movie for me because it was SO distracting. It ruined it for me so much that I had to watch it a couple of dozen times so that I could just ignore her hair and focus on the important thing. I like the character of Eddie better than Leopold though; Leopold is great, but he lacks a sense of humor. I think Eddie is a hoot. flawed, I know, but he's covering up a broken heart, so he'll reform. Cath
No, Leopold does have a sense of humor, it's just a very dry one, and it's the sort of sense of humor a man of his time and position in life would have had. Remember the whole "Pirates of Penzance" scene? That was funny and very silly. And yes, Eddie will now reform, and you have to cut him some slack for the broken heart.
I like both men for different reasons -- apples and oranges.
My goodness, how we are all such kindred souls! I too find Meg's hair SO DISTRACTING in K&L. What were they thinking? Her lips too. A little too heavy on the lip injections, there, Meg! My husband (who is a HUGE Meg fan, way back when she was on that soap that I can't remember at the moment-he actually met her while she was filming a small role in Amityville Horror!) thinks she looks like Donald Duck with those lips!
Have to concede on the Leo sense of humor; I didn't see many exhibitions of even dry humor -- after all, poor man was deeply unhappy with his life -- but I'd forgotten (better watch again) that part with the little boy and Penzance; that was charming and funny. I guess I just go for that sarcasm of Eddie's. Cath
