Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Hugh Jackman Set for 'Iconoclasts'
By John Consoli
Published: May 27, 2010

Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron and Hugh Jackman will be among those appearing in episodes of the fifth season of Sundance Channel's documentary series "Iconoclasts," which returns on Oct. 2 at 9 p.m.

The six-one hour episodes that will make up this season pairs two "creative visionaries" from different fields who come together to discuss their lives and talk about what inspires them.

Blanchett will be paired with professor and climate scientist Tim Flannery; Jackman will be paired with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten; and Theron with primatologist Jane Goodall.

During the segments, the pairs visit each other's worlds and share their inspirations.

"Iconoclasts is unique in that it provides viewers with an inside glimpse into the real people behind the public persona," said Emil Jattne, senior brand manager, Grey Goose Entertainment, in a statement announcing the new season. Grey Goose Entertainment produces the series along with @radical media.

The fifth season will be directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky.

Former pairings in the series include actor Samuel L. Jackson and basketball great Bill Russell; producer Brian Grazer and Viacom and CBS Corp. owner Sumner Redstone; actress Rene Zellweger and TV news journalist Christine Amanpour; and actor/producer Quentin Tarantino and singer Fiona Apple.

Very interesting pairing for Hugh, as he and Jean-Georges are really friends and Hugh admits to being a food-lover Wink

I saw the pairing of Renee and Christiane Amanpour and it was an excellent program. I am a fan of Ms. Amanpour and think she is the best lady journalist around. However a pairing between her and Hugh would have been fantastic as I would love to have Hugh in a program talking about contemporary world concerns. Plus Hugh is a journalism graduate and he would probably enjoy such an encounter.

October 2 is still 4 months away Frown

That's good to know, Nancy -- that she has been acknowledged for her work as a journalist by being asked to be a commencement speaker in the CNN homebase. She is leaving CNN and moving to one of the networks if I am not mistaken. Maybe she wants to come home ( she is or was based in London) and work mainly out of the USA. She is married to James Rubin, a former Asst Secretary of State and the son of former Treasury Secretary Rubin.

Yes, she also was good friends with J.F.K. Jr. as they went to school together.
