I guess this is the type of info I am after in regards to unscrupulous dealings. I'm coming from the perspective that I only had positive experiences in London (maybe I was lucky?), in fact I got some great tickets at excellent prices (think 1/6 to 1/3 of face value). From what I can gather the scalpers there tend to both buy unwanted tickets from punters and then sell on. Only ever went this route when my decision to attend was strictly spur of the moment and very last minute. I don't really condone scalping but can see why people may see it as an attractive way to make a easy living. I once sold a spare front row Jamiroquai ticket (bidding went up to over twice what I bought it for). The buyer was stoked. I guess an experience is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

You know why! It also doesn't help that the show I am aiming for is the last performance on 6 December.
Sparkles,
Er...that makes your ticket search going to be even more formidable!
But early December is the best time to be in NYC! It is Christmastime and there are many added attractions at that time ( including the annual The Nutcracker Ballet at the Lincoln Center - not sure if they have already announced it - but they usually have a yearly show). Although this is also the most expensive time to be in NYC - hotel rates will be at peak!
Re my own trip - I am going to go in mid-fall, because I would love to revisit places I associate with my long-ago school time in western Massachussetts. Exquisite foliage to see for out-of-town trips during the weekend! Fall is also a special time in NYC - the start of the theatre season ( so many tempting new shows already announced) -- plus I have always had the impression that this is the time when NYC really comes alive ( I lived in NYC a very long time ago)!

Maybe for other shows, there will be a good number of ticket opportunities, regular or scalper... but A STEADY RAIN is a hot show and it is only on a very limited run! I have the impression that it is the ticket brokers ( sold whether via their sites or through the many hotel concierges or through sites selling complete hotel/show/maybe dinner packages) who have the brunt of tickets not directly purchased via Telecharge. Scalping is more wholesale, I am afraid -- and probably not like the more individual efforts of "touts" in London. Also, I don't see stores/shops in the Broadway area selling discounted tickets as I see regularly around Leicester Square, or Piccadilly St close to Leicester Sq or around St. Martin's Lane/Shaftesbury in the West End ( I have always stayed in London in many visits at the Thistle, literally across the street to Leicester Sq).
I remember when they released tickets ( done at the last week or so) for the closing show for TBFO -- we were all so harrassed keeping watch on Telecharge to get tickets but the best we could do were middling or close to the back of the orchestra or way to the side -- and that was $ 350 a ticket! One had to go to a ticket broker if one wanted a much closer view! Exasperating time
Wishing you all the luck if you are trying for a seat in less than an hour's time
Nothings changed since midnight ticked over. It's bringing up the exact same tickets that were available before midnight ie. row J of the mezzanine. **shakes head* Am I doing this right?

I will be sitting in those two exact seats, two days later. What a coincidence!
I'm ecstatic and can't sleep. Congrats to all the other ticket holders and soon to be ticket holders.
G'night all.

Don't tempt me! Unfortunately I pretty much capped my ticket budget at $150. Do you accept lay-away? Just kidding. Hahaha.

I was just thinking that this will be the longest 2 months of my life, lol!!!!! I'm glad some of you are going in September so I can read all your experiences! I'm so curious about stage door! I know it will be a zoo but - a girl can dream, right?!

No. At the risk of sounding snobby I am not keen to come all that way only to sit in the very back row. Surprisingly enough, I'm OK with it. Some you win and some you lose.

SO I was trying to get tickets on Friday Night since 3 more of my family announced, last week, that they would be here, from Australia, in October to see the show. The best premium I could get was row M Orch Centre so we went for the best available instead which were in row O Orch right.
Now I hold my breath as I think it puts me 1 over the limit for my AMEX. Though I purchased as a normal sale not in the pre-sale....

Based on the new ticket limits rules issued for the regular sales, you are probably safe, Roselady. Before the presale, there were two sets of ticket limits - one for the Amex presale and another for the regular sale following thereafter.
Ticket Limit If you are purchasing tickets for a single performance (excluding any Saturday evening or any performance October 9 - October 11; November 23 - November 29) a total of 8 tickets may be purchased per 30 day period.
If you are purchasing tickets for multiple performances, or for any Saturday evening, or any performance between October 9 - October 11; November 23 - November 29, a total of 8 tickets may be purchased per 30 day period. Tickets purchased which exceed these limits will be returned.
Ticket limits are enforced per name, credit card account, billing address, phone number, IP address, and/or e-mail address. Certain types of seating may have a different ticket limit.
There's a slight change from the rules that were issued before the presale - whereas before a total of 8 tickets may be purchased per 7- day period, it is now per 30 days.
Thanks JO. I would just hate for them to make the trip and not get a ticket. I have a back up plan hopefully a friend will help but I hate to have to ask.

Sorry, but did you say you got them on Friday ( July 24)? I'm afraid that might still fall under the presale ticket limits. Regular sales started at 12:01 am on July 25 (Saturday early morning). Sorry for my confusion
