That's extremely nice of them. When I purchased my tickets I read all the restrictions, not being notified re cancellations was among them.

I am sad to report that I have "lost my last set of tickets" for the December show. Ticketmaster DID NOT advise me that this was happenning and they DID charge me for that set! The problem was I tried to get 10 tickets (all for different nights) BUT the limit was 8 as you all know, but I did not. Now I'm wondering IF I should even try again. I know seeing the "boy from oz" was great multiple times because of the music, dancing and storyline BUT I am wondering IF this play will be worth it multiple times.......I mean I'm going 4 times anyway, (in great seats) BUT perhaps that is enough? Any thoughts on that?

Patty I would wait until the girls see the first show-it is always worth seeing Hugh but I would wait to see if the show is any good!

Good advice. I have seven tickets but am hoping I'll be as nuts about the play as I am about its brunette star. Smile Sitting through a so-so musical is one thing (NOT a BFO reference, just a general rule), but just about the only thing that can get me to sit through a not-so-hot play would be a magnificent cast. I think we're all playing "wait and see."

If it turns out you'd like more repeat visits, there's always the cancellation line a day or two before as well as standing room, when the box office eventually offers it for sold-out performances.

LOL - try doing it over a compressed period like over a week Big Grin

I've done it a few times, but usually with a musical with my favorite actors on board or if it happens to be one of my favourite musicals ( I have seen Les Mis 9 times)...but this will be the first time that I would be doing it multiple times for a straight play. Come to think of it, I've never seen a straight play more than once. I haven't seen that many because my ratio is usually heavily in favor of musicals ( because, more often, my travel companion has no patience for straight plays - and I often end up watching one by myself) but where the play is excellent, I find myself sometimes more absorbed than if it were a musical where one can easily get lost in the spectacle rather than the book.

A play is like reading a book while a musical is more like listening to a wonderful piece of music. The appeal is different.

One way to approach A STEADY RAIN is to think of it as a heavy movie drama that is riveting and where the performances are topnotch ( In Hugh Jackman terms, that could be like The Fountain - which I like a lot and have watched easily a dozen times). One thing working in my favor is that I love the theatre! Nothing is more exciting than when the lights dim and the curtain ( sometimes) rises and the hush fills the house...and the first spoken word or the first note fills the air in a live performance!

Okay - I have tickets for 5 performances of A STEADY RAIN! But that is all my schedule can fit in (I'm seeing other stuff, too) - I hope I end up wanting to see it some more, even if I can't Wink

Patty,
They are going to credit your card for the 2 tickets I hope?! I personally think 4 times would be plenty, but whatever floats your boat! LOL! TBFO was so different--I could have seen it 100 times! ("only" saw it twice)

Okay I took the plunge and purchased another set of tickets for the same day I originally had. Crazy probably but this way I have them spread out; two sets for Sept., one set for Oct. One set for Nov. one set for Dec. What irks me is that the exact same tickets weren't available. What I find VERY strange is that the original purchase was August 9th, the recent purchase was August 25th and tickets I ended up with were ONLY one row behind the declined tickets! (3rd row center orch!). Telecharge has not refunded me yet for the declined set, I hope they do!! I also hope the play or watching them two is worth it. I much prefer Hugh in something light and musical and watching him play with the audience, none of which he'll be able to do! Not to mention 90 minutes isn't enough time to stare at him! I only have two confirmed people who will go with me so far so I'm really taking a chance on this!

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get a student ticket? Is it only available on the day itself? Or can I go ask for it let's say Monday to go on Friday? Is it only if the show hasn't sold out? Or is it always on sale? I'm guessing I will need to bring my student card right? LOL !

Thanks ! I hope someone will be able to help me!

Nouchka,

This was posted on the Broadwayworld theatre message board --

I grilled the box office guy about it yesterday. He said that the student rush tickets are $31.50 and they are set aside for students at every performance, so even if the show is sold out, there will be student rush tickets available in the morning.

I didn't ask him about the location, but if he told someone else they are in the last row of the mezz, then that's where they are.

Hope it helps. I don't think you can ask for tickets other than for the day of the performance itself. From what I understand they won't even release the tickets until about half an hour before the performance ( they either give you a wrist band or get info from your ID when you line up earlier in the day to reserve the seat for you).

You may want to follow this thread from that site, as there might be additional info found in the various posts --

Yep, they're mezz, all right--but better than nothing.

As for student tickets, I was chatting with a student ticket-holder the other day. She said she got to the box office at 8:30 a.m. (it opened at 10) and was the second person on line. After showing her school ID and paying, she was given a receipt and told to pick up the ticket a half hour before curtain.
