This would happen while I'm out of town!!! Grrrr! We drove down to the beach yesterday and I'm so glad I paid for 24 hours of Wi-Fi or I wouldn't even know about this until Monday!

For those of you who have done AMEX pre-sales before - can I call AMEX directly to get tickets? Or do you have to go through a site like tele-charge?

You go to Telecharge for the tickets. I did it recently for an advance sale ticket for Hamlet which is also handled with an AMEX pre-sale. It goes fairly easy unless the system is clogged by too many interested theatregoers Eek

I've been following this topic (basically the only active one at the moment) for the past few days with a sense of bittersweet longing, jealousy and excitement, but have chosen not to participate, largely because I would have nothing to contribute really... Smile

But I wanted to tell all the ladies that are planning to get tickets and able to see the show: I am so happy and excited for each and every one of you, and all of us that will not be able to even remotely dream of being there, we are there in spirit, trust me!

Enjoy the anticipation, and may everybody get fantastic tickets, and see two fabulous actors in a once-in-a-lifetime show!

Hugs!

Hann

Hey, Hann Smile

Thanks for your kind wishes when we go to battle ( for tickets) -- arghh!!!

I am sure that when Hugh swings back to the cinematic side of his dual career ( he starts filming THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES shortly after the brief stint on Broadway) - we will have the same level of enthusiasm for a new project for this talented man!

I hope there will be tickets left after the public release. Or later on cus I am considering about flying overseas just to see this play. It will be my first time ever in NYC and USA for me and I will go alone but it dosen't matter. It will be a new experience in life right.

Question...I have never booked through Telecharge - when I call them at 12:01 on the 25th (like thousands of others) when I book I want to know exactly what seats I'm getting - I'm willing to pay premium price - they will tell me exactly where the seats will be, right? I don't have to wait 4 weeks to see what they decide to give me, right? OR am I better off just calling the theater direct on the 25th? Advice anyone out there...

The producers must be confident becasue there is no add in the NYT about the presale. There is a huge one for Jude Law's Hamlet.

Don't call--get online to telecharge.com and you will know exactly what seats you're getting. Smile

I had the most frustrating experience when I called during the TBFO pre-sale ( May 2003). I was ready with my AMEX international card and when I got through, I was informed that only USA-based Amex cards were acceptable and was turned down Mad... I called my card issuer subsequently and was told that this was solely a promotion program by the US Amex. I waited two weeks and promptly called when the regular sale took effect.

I had asked for 4 sets of tickets for different dates ( I had already planned the trip for November-December that year - there was going to be a family wedding in NYC and so I knew I would be there) and I was going to see the show with different relatives and friends.

Guess what seats they offered???

All Row AA! LOLOL! No one wanted to sit on the front row, so they were available Big Grin...But I hesitated because I wasn't sure some relatives would relish being on the front row ( there could be the problem of a high stage or the leg room would be even worse, or the orchestra pit is too near, etc) . So, I hedged -- I got 2 sets front row ( most center seats and best viewing place to see The Boy!) and 2 sets further back! All at regular price Big Grin

When I was finally going to see the show, I called them again. After reading about Hugh's performance ( and ignoring the horrible reviews of the show), I decided I would rather sit closer to the front for the other sets of tickets. They allowed me to upgrade from regular to premium ( I just paid for the difference) and I had to beg before they said Yes. Haha!

Moral of the story - don't trust your first intuition Big Grin

You know what? I bet the phone lines will be jammed and the telecharge website crashes! LOL!

caligirl,
With all the rules & regulations, maybe it would be better to call, esp. if you want multiple performances! I booked TBFO online with Telecharge since I was only ordering one ticket for one performance and it was super easy.

When Bruce Springsteen tickets went on sale a few months ago it was a mess - you would either get through, but get an error message and no confirmation, or you would be told the shows were sold out and get redirected to their auction site, where the tickets were on sale for several times their face value.

Ticketmaster wound up getting investigated (even Bruce issued a statement slamming them) and they ended up giving out refunds and vouchers for other tickets.

I didn't get in for those shows, but I am seeing him at Giants Stadium in September - 6 days after the U2 concert, also at Giants Stadium. It's my 11th time seeing Bruce, and my 4th U2 concert. Big Grin

My mom's doing the Amex thing tomorrow, since she's the one with the card. Her luck's been pretty good lately - she got great seats to the Paul McCartney concert at Citi Field next week during that Amex presale. Keeping my fingers crossed!
