It is even more interesting in that the primary poll topic is POLL: Who's Best Suited For Broadway?

People's ( not the magazine) perception of Hugh Jackman as someone who can not only sing/dance/act but can also be a full entertainer ( check out the Bicoastal moments from TBFO) want them to see him on a live stage. I think the OSCAR numbers also reinforced that perception.

It is obvious Hugh's reknowned triple-threat talent puts him at the head of the field! I do not know for sure, but I doubt that Daniel, Jude, and TR can also do full-scale musicals!

No competition at all Wink

StubHub.com is a major source of tickets bought and sold on the secondary market.

According to their Q&A --

"Unlike other ticket websites, StubHub is not a ticket broker and we don’t own the tickets you purchase on our site. We started StubHub to provide an active marketplace where fans can gather to buy and sell tickets.

The price of tickets in a listing is determined by each individual seller. We're an open marketplace, which means that anyone can sell tickets at StubHub"

They have already put up a listing of offers to buy or to sell tickets for A STEADY RAIN.

Take a look at some of the prices currently on offer Eek

Someone could have bought 4 tickets for less than $600 and then sold 3 of them on StubHub and made enough money to pay for their whole trip to New York. That's insane!

Lots of us who discovered TBFO in the middle of its run had interesting experiences trying to get tickets for the final show.....

"Pssst....put your favorite leopard print shirt in a brown paper bag, and drop it in the first trash can in the Marriott Marquis ladies room......"

Some paid lots on Ebay or from ticket sites, only to be able to obtain them several weeks before...premium prices, of course, but great seats.

A very influential Hollywood acquaintance of mine offered to get tickets for me, and was astounded when he had to come back and tell me there were none available, even for him! (sorry...not meaning to brag, just telling how tough they were!!)

So...the first set of tickets I bought the other day were the ones for the last performance of "A Steady Rain".

I hope everybody who wants them has been successful!

I think that was the reason why we were calling/searching Telecharge at the first hour of July 11 Big GrinBig Grin

The effort, sometimes frustrating and sometimes exhilarating, to get those tickets for the final show of TBFO( and the last few shows, too) was a great reminder not to hesitate this time for the final show and for other dates. A pity I have chosen other dates to see RAIN ( I am compressing 4 shows in less than a week's time though, mais c'est la vie). Wishing you all who will be there for the end of the run a memorable time!

LOL - I was actually too impatient ( in reality, a lot scared!) when seat choices were offered for RAIN for my chosen dates. Should I get this one - or wait for a better choice - or wait till the regular sale date arrives??? I happily gave in within those "2 minutes and change" deadline Razz

Haven't posted in years, but I knew where to come about ticket info for A Steady Rain. I'm hoping there will be some tickets available on the 25th. I've got several weeks where I could be flexible, to get a chance at tickets. When it says available on the 25th, is that at 12:01 a.m. on the 25th or some time later in the day?

We were lucky to see TBFO 4 times. I'll be lucky if I get to see this once. I'm sure the stage door would be a nightmare.

Crossing fingers and other appendages until I can find out if we can get tickets.

12:01 am exactly, I suspect -- they were quite precise for the 8:00 am selling start for the pre-sale.

Hmm...isn't that one minute past midnight? Will people stay up for that selling start-time? Have they done this before??

Oh, I can only imagine the stage door this time around. Absolutely insane, I'm sure.
It will be interesting to find out how bad it is.
But I would love to get my friend close enough to see Daniel Craig. Her eyes would pop.
Me, however, would be tickled with a glimpse of our Hugh. I am under no illusions that we would be able to get close enough to even speak to him.

I am feeling much the same Tncowgirl, but you'd be surprised what determination and persistence will get you. Wink Not saying that I have much of that, but I'm anxious to hear the stories from those who do.

Can't wait to start reading the threads come September!

I agree. They may only let those with tickets near the barricade for autographs. I've gotten the man's autograph before, but it would be lovely to say hello.
Only time and the beginning of the show will tell.

How many of you purchased tickets that will arrive by e-mail vs. traditional mail? Anyone picking them up at the box office?

I'm getting them by e-mail which has always worked out well for me in the past. Now I'm just waiting to receive them which should be within 5 days from the purchase date. I'm getting very impatient! Has anyone received them yet??

Both of my tickets are being held at the box office. I didn't want to run the very real risk of being 3000 miles away before realizing I had left them safely at home. Which happened once and there was a very complicated plan to get those tix to me in NYC.

I opted for postal mail. I was told the tickets would arrive about 4 weeks from now.

Not surprising about the 4-week wait --

According to Variety, A STEADY RAIN has already worked wonders at the pre-sale box office :

'Steady Rain' of sales
Big advance ticket sales for Jackman, Craig play

By GORDON COX

Broadway play "A Steady Rain," toplined by Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman, is already looking like a rainmaker.

Legiters have been buzzing that the play racked up a whopping $3 million in advance sales solely from the initial pre-sale offer for American Express cardholders -- even before ducats go on sale to the general public July 25. Pre-sale launched Saturday.

A rep for the production wouldn't confirm any figures, but the big-league numbers come as no surprise given the anticipated B.O. draw of film stars Craig and Jackman.

Initial tally for "Rain" looks likely to land the show in the top-selling range of other notable star-driven plays, including the 2006 Julia Roberts starrer "Three Days of Rain," which reportedly pulled in $7 million in one day of sales to the general public, and Billy Crystal's 2004 show "700 Sundays," said to have garnered an advance of $6 million.

"Hamlet," the London import that stars Jude Law, was also said to have done well on the advance sales front last weekend, with that tally rumored to have come close to the $1 million mark.

"Steady Rain," helmed by John Crowley, is set to begin perfs at the Schoenfeld Theater on Sept. 10 ahead of a Sept. 29 opening.

Meredith, I chose e-mail, but I haven't received mine yet. Last time I ordered tickets from them -- for Hair -- it took several days before I got them... and then, before I had a chance to print them out, I found out the performance on that day was cancelled!!! Frown

I haven't gotten my tickets emailed yet either. But I did check Telecharge and the order is definitely confirmed, so I'm assuming they're just sorting through all the orders they're processing since the pre-sale. No worries here, they'll be here soon enough.
