I had dinner with a friend of mine last night who works on movie sets. We were idly discussing films and he was sharing some funny stories. I was taking a bite of food when he mentioned there were several westerns due to be filmed next year and the first name that rolled off of his lips was Hugh Jackman.
I whipped my head around and blurted, "Oh, that's right, he's supposed to be in Unbound Captives!"
He confirmed and went on with his list of movies. I had actually momentarily forgotten about UC until he brought it up.
I bit my tongue before I begged to visit him on the set, no matter where it was, but, oh, how I wanted to.
Decorum prevailed, but barely. I settled with hoping maybe that I could get hired on, but that's not likely since I doubt it would be filmed anywhere near here.
Sigh...oh, well, I'll just wait with rapt attention for the unveiling of Hugh's new western.

It's supposed to film in New Mexico and New Zealand. Would be a beautiful working vacation for someone lucky enough to get even a small behind the scenes part to play in a gig like that! Nothing's impossible for a cowgirl! Wink

According to all the reports I've seen so far, the filming will overlap into "next year" and the movie is supposed to come out at the end of "next year" so the person may have been just talking in short hand.

I don't know exactly how to get hired on for something like that. I've worked on sets in my area here, but New Mexico isn't even remotely near here and New Zealand is a world away.
My friend isn't exactly in charge of hiring or firing so I really don't see how.

At least there seems to be some more confirmation here that Hugh is going to be in THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES. He did not mention the movie project in the interview with VOGUE and USA TODAY and some fans had been wondering if he is still attached to it.

Thanks for sharing this info - TnCowgirl Smile

It´s good to know. But, when we are talking about UC, Rachel didn´t mention it at all.
I think they are all just too busy to talk about a project that is months away - but their schedules should work, I guess.

Interestingly, Hugh has never confirmed personally his being attached to UNBOUND CAPTIVES. All that we have read about is that it was Hugh who was the last one to join the main lead cast. But I believed that because the film project was packaged by a subsidiary of his talent agency, ENDEAVOR, that it was not improbable that Hugh had agreed to be in the movie.

But I thought it unusual that when he was asked about future projects for the VOGUE and USA Today interviews that the UNBOUND CAPTIVES film project was never mentioned. I think perhaps those interviews all arose from a panel interview held for the media, but where the results were not released at the same time, but close to the start of the play's previews. Hence, the similarity of info on his future projects.

We'll see - I hope that anyone who gets close enough to him at the stagedoor can ask him to confirm if he is part of the film project and when THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES is expected to start filming.

Robert Pattinson mention him. He said that Hugh´s role is great. And vice versa - People.com asked Hugh about Robert´s role (and hair). So I guess they are both doing it.
I would like Rachel to confirm it, too. That´s one reason why I am looking forward to this - to Hugh and Rachel together again.

The question of when this would start rolling has always been a bit confusing as initially the start date has always been talked about in the late fall of this year, but...I don't know how that will be possible.

Hugh will be on stage until early December and Rob won't wrap Eclipse till the end of October and then will have major promotional duties throughout November for New Moon (you can't believe the hoops that Summit made that kid jump through for Twilight and like a good little soldier, he jumped) AND isn't Rachel onstage somewhere through December? And it's rare that a film will begin principle photography just before Christmas (film sets usually shut down for a couple of weeks at that time). So...I've always thought that this thing would roll in January with perhaps some second unit starting in the fall. As for the release date...

Initially I heard November of 2010. Then I heard February 2011. But if this one is Oscar bait (and with the offer of 5 million to Ms. Stowe -an unheard of amount for a first time screenwriter- you better believe it), you can bet that everyone is gonna bust ass to get this into the theatres by the end of next year in order to contend for those Oscars. If they hold it till early 2011, it could be forgotten by the next Oscars. Unless it's a masterpiece. I can recall a couple of other films (Witness and Silence Of The Lambs) that were released in February and a year later, Oscar most certainly remembered them. As for Hugh's involvement...

I think it's pretty firm. Madeline snagged Rob last fall (before Twilight even opened) and during Twilight PR he talked about this western he was going to do in Argentina (either that was the initial location shoot, or he was drunk. moon) and once Hugh was announced, he's talked about how excited he is to work with him. Me too babe. Me too.

As for you Miss Jill, you've got a talent and a contact. Use 'em both and don't be shy about it. That business is all about contacts, networking and timing. Your friend may not be able to hire you, but he might know the person who can. At least check into it. And if you can't land a job, don't be afraid to ask to visit the set. It's okay. What did Peter say? If you're gonna live...THEN LIVE!!!

And that means, grabbing an opportunity when it comes your way.

Go for it darlin'. What have you got to lose?

She's done with A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE by October 3 - unless the Donmar extends ( doubtful, if they already have another show booked).

Hope she and Darren are able to catch Hugh in A STEADY RAIN. It was his seeing Hugh in TBFO that started the ball rolling for THE FOUNTAIN Wink

Just wondering if this is not preparation for THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES.

As reported by Australian media --

quote:
Jackman pumped

HUGH Jackman isn't taking any chances fronting up next to James Bond Daniel Craig in their forthcoming Broadway production, A Steady Rain.

Wolverine has just asked his personal trainer, Michael Ryan, to fly over to New York to keep him in shape.

"I'm going over to train with him for a couple of weeks," Ryan says. "He's already in shape and he doesn't need to take his shirt off for this, so he's already there. He'd still be training five or six days a week without fail, but it's just for keeping fit and healthy, that's all it is.''

In the 90-minute production, the two mega-hunks play Chicago police officers confronting personal and professional difficulties.

For those who've been asking for someone to ask Hugh, here's the scoop (not the Woody Allen variety): Hugh finally confirmed it with me tonight (pre-show) at the stage door: UNBOUND CAPTIVES is definitely his next project. So we can all relax. Smile

Thanks Ellen! I'm not usually up this late but now I'm glad I was. I loved what he said about it in the interview with Katie Couric too. He really loves the script.
