A poster on allthatchat today likened up-and-coming pianist/singer Jason Wynn, whom I've never heard of, to Peter in many ways. He's performing at the Beechman Theater in NYC for a couple of days. If you see Jason Wynn, please report: Does he remind you of Peter (truly incomparable, I know)?

OMG! Thanks for this tip, Ellen. I've never heard of him either... so I "googled" him.
If I weren't 2000 miles away I would certainly check him out! (ahem)

He's got the right sense of humor...
from Jason Wynn's website

... and there's a familiar ring to this description of a show in 2006 --

...the show is a smooth mix of styles that left me wanting more. Jason Wynn's laid-back sense of humor and casual sexiness (he performed the entire opening performance in a sleeveless black t-shirt because several audience members moaned with disappointment when he tried putting on a jacket) seem natural and effortless. Not The Same Old @#$% really kicks ass.

Full article here

This is what I found on the current show:

The Laurie Beechman Theatre
407 West 42nd Street New York, NY

Saturday, September 20th 9:30 pm
Sunday, September 21st 7:00 pm
Saturday, September 27th 9:30 pm

$15 Cover! - $15 Food/Drink Min
(MAC & Cabaret Hotline member discounts)
Call 212-695-6909 for Reservations

If anyone has a chance to attend, I would *love* to hear your thoughts!

P.S. I also found this while googling..

Jason Wynn is a fictional character in the Todd McFarlane comic book series Spawn.

So he *really* does fit right in here! LOL

Hey, he's nice looking from the *front* too...

Valerie, thanks for the research. He does have some of Peter's impishness, doesn't he? Smile

Yes, he seems like he'd be a wonderful performer. He also has quite a resume as an actor and a musical director. It sounds like this is a talented young man who's really "going places"! I wish him All The Best!

I'm gonna check his website before I get to NYC in November. I think it would be fun to catch his show.

Publicity release from Jason Wynn --

As it turns out, response for "Not MORE of the Same Old @#$%" back in September was overwhelmingly positive. So I have decided to do two more shows. I'm no longer gonna tell you what I think of the show, so this is just to let you know what the reviewers have said! Hopefully, that may sway you. And then all the date/time information is below.

"Wynn announces that this act is his party and he is going to do things his way. Boy, does he! ... There is no question that Jason Wynn is a very talented composer and performer. It would be wonderful to hear an evening of his original songs because they were the best numbers in this show ... a real revelation of a major contemporary talent."
Joe Regan, Jr./Cabaret Scenes

"The delightful Mr. Wynn took us on a rocking, rolling and entertaining adventure, packed with surprises....Sprinkled with top-notch original songs, a few standards and some "rarely heard in cabaret" covers, the show was non-stop excitement and fun.....With 8 or 9 folks on stage, his work was cut out for him and he accomplished it with gusto."
Stu Hamstra/Cabaret Hotline

I guarantee that you'll have a good time! Don't miss it! Catch it now, for it will be gone forever!

My nickle's running out at the Cyber Cafe. Just wanted to say that this young man is *very* talented and absolutely adoreable. I look forward to Much more from him in the future.

Mona, you and your photo albums really *made* the night for me. Such wonderful PA memories. How can I ever thank you enough? I just couldn't stop sighing over the pix of Peter... and Jason was wonderful, too. Thanks for sharing a great night with me.

It was a wonderful evening, indeed. Jason Wynn was terrific and a lot of fun. I’d love to see him perform again. He never would have come to my attention at this time without mamaleh’s heads-up. Thank you so much!

JH4HJ, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to show you some of my memorabilia, and touching to know it meant so much to you. It was a privilege to hear more of your PA memories from his pre “star” days. I, unfortunately, was unaware of Peter at that time. Your memories were a perfect compliment to mine.

Ditto that -- thanks Ellen. He performs again 11/22 -- try to catch him. He's wonderful.

Did I mention that he does EOINA in his B'way medley? It was nice to have a bit of PA included in the show. A wonderful night, indeed.

Thanks again, Mona. More when I get home.

Mona and I loved this young man's show last November. If you've got a free evening, this sounds like it could be fun. I don't know anything about the people he mentions, but Jason is a very talented young man.

Hello all!

I'm terribly late in doing this, but I wanted to share some really exciting news!

For those of you who came to see my show last fall, you might remember the song "Living Without Love"? The song from my musical that is the wife's lament of her current situation? Well.......

It's been nominated for a MAC Award for Best Original Song!

I've been nominated among excellent company, including Adam Gwon, Carol Hall, Mark Janas, Peter Napolitano, and Paul Rolnick. I feel incredibly honored to have my own personal work acknowledged in this way.

In fact, there is a MAC Award Nominee Showcase for the nominated songs and nominated special musical material on Saturday the 18th at 3:30 pm where we are given an opportunity to perform our songs before everyone casts their final vote.

The showcase is being held at Don't Tell Mama at 343 W. 46th Street. It's free for MAC and ASCAP members, $10 otherwise. But if you're available, you should come on down. You'll be able to hear the "top 5" original songs of this past year. As well as the "top 5" special material.

I'd like to extend another huge thank you to all those who helped me with my show, and all of you who came to see my show, and each and everyone of you out there who have shown me so much support in so many ways!

Thank you!

—Jason
