I've never seen him in a film, that I know of. The picture in that article is downright scary.

I never really believe they would chose Hugh for Bond's hole. His too famous and too attached to X-Men. Bond was always a relative unknown actor who became famous AS Bond. I think it was a lost because Hugh would be a fantastic Bond, and in the interviews I saw about this, he really seams to be interested in play the hole, like a boy's dream.
I really don't know Daniel Craig. Here is his Filmography http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/ There are some known movies for me, but I can remember him, he didn't make any impression... I hope to be wrong (because Bond's movies are a good entertainment) but he looks like another Timothy Dalton... |

From some of the photos on Google Images, he looks more like he'd be the lead, Prof. Halder, in the film, "Good" that HJ will be doing. Very Ayrian looking. Interesting juxtaposition for the two actors. Not used to seeing a blond Bond.

Sorry, but this guy is NOT handsome. There's something grim looking about him. (And given that he was born the same year as HJ, he looks much older and more tired than HJ evah has.)

But is it official? That article quotes an unnamed source from a British newspaper, not the producers themselves. There was another article on ThisisLondon.com that said Mr. Craig was denying the reports that he had been chosen.

I agree Kelly, he looks downright scary in that photo. And I agree with Janis too, he looks like a better Prof Halder and looks like he'd be more suited for that kind of character! Not the sexy, charismatic Sean Connery look that's for sure! Yuk!

I, for one, will believe it when I see it on the big wide movie screen.
There has been so much speculation about this role. If nothing else it keeps the Bond name out there and that's what sells tickets. And to tell the truth, this guy isn't exactly ringing MY chimes. |

Other than this, I haven't heard any more. What's the deal? It's been a month. Maybe it "fell through." Personally, I always had very mixed feeling about Hugh "doing" Bond. In 1 sense I'd love to have seen him in tux, suave, showing off his virility and his body. But, from a professional standpoint, I think it would be the "kiss of death" for his career. It would pigeonhole him, which is precisely what he does not want to do.

One more... this time is the ER doctor Goran Visnjic!
I love him! But again, a little sad for the hole… Bond need to be happy, self confident, charming and happy! Ok, no one like YKW, but it’s not my fault!!! LOL!!! |

Yawn...this whole Bond casting melodrama is so stale. BUT...I think this guy would be a good choice, actually.

I can't take it anymore. |

Uh...I'd like to clarify my above post if I may.
I wasn't saying that I couldn't take our speculating about this subject anymore. 'Cause let's face it, considering how I myself have gone on and on about this subject, that would be a little like the pot calling the kettle black, no? What I meant was, I can't take this game the producers are playing anymore. As I've said before, this is a cat and mouse game that they're playing in order to keep it in the press and to keep people talking about it AND it's working. What I don't understand is this... 1)Barbara Broccoli has gushed about Hugh 2)Hugh has expressed keen interest in the role (I don't know, maybe that has changed) 3)Several polls in several countries have all ended up with the same name on top, one Mr. Hugh Jackman 4)Of all the names bandied about for this role, Hugh is one of the biggest box office draws. Why would the producers go for a complete unknown when they can get a "name?" Isn't $$$ the name of the game around here? 5)If this casting is indeed true, me thinks I'm smelling another George Lazenby fiasco. I know some have expressed the opinion that the producers of this franchise might be nervous about having a song and dance man as their new Bond. In my opinion that is ridiculous. Talent is talent and any producer in his right mind wants the best he can get. Has Richard Gere's performance in Chicago or Ewan MacGregor's in Moulin Rouge hampered other roles offered to them? And let's not forget John Travolta (a current big action star) began his film career in musicals (Saturday Night Fever and Grease). And please don't say it's because Hugh is associtated with a "gay" role (our dear Peter). More ridiculous and if that's really how these producers feel, then who would want to work for them anyway. And blah, blah, blah... Sorry. Love, Barbara |

Maybe this will put this issue to bed, and maybe not!! We'll have to wait and see like everyone else.
The Daily Telegraph "Aussie star eyes Bond role" By MICHAEL BODEY August 8, 2005 YET another Australian is being mooted as the next James Bond. But this time, it's for real. Alex O'Lachlan is one of four actors who auditioned for cinema's best known role in England last month. "I'm spinning out of my brain about it," the 28-year-old star of Oyster Farmer told The Daily Telegraph. "I flew to London, stayed on Piccadilly and was looked after beautifully. "[I was] fitted out at Hugo Boss for a tuxedo, had my hair cut and filmed two scenes." O'Lachlan was up against ER's Goran Visnjic, Henry Cavill and Scotsman Ewan Stewart, 47. They filmed a series of screen tests at the famed Pinewood Studios for Martin Campbell, who directed GoldenEye and will helm the next film, Casino Royale. Australians Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman and Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon had previously been mentioned as possible contenders for the role, although only McMahon was seriously approached. "Picture it. Picture it!" O'Lachlan laughed. "It's James Bond, need I say any more?" "The reality is I may not get the role, which is the conundrum for all actors, but at the end of the day, I'm incredibly grateful just to be considered. "People's ears prick up and they do take me a lot more seriously here now." O'Lachlan expects to hear the final decision within the next 20 days. Producers of the Bond franchise are looking for a relatively unknown actor who can take over the role from Pierce Brosnan. Ioan Gruffudd, who played Horatio Hornblower, was favourite for the role until he took a part in Fantastic Four. I cannot believe I am going to weigh in here yet again (it's like a damn drug, I tell ya)...
Why go for a complete unknown when you can get a "name?" I don't get it. I suppose the producers feel that the name Bond is strong enough that they could cast Danny DeVito in the part (hey, now there's a thought) and still pull in an audience. But I don't know about that. Bond is an old franchise and in these modern times with internet, cable, DVD, etc., there's alot more competition these days for the entertainment dollar. The question is, what is it about Bond that makes it unique and sets it apart from the rest of the action/adventure pack? Right, the guy whose playing him. That's the draw. They've tried pulling this rabbit out of their hat before by casting unknowns (Lazenby/Dalton, although Dalton was somewhat of a name) and failed miserably. Oh well, it's their baby. Barbara |

If true, the way I look at it is a glass half full....it will leave him more time to work on a stage show!

Has it ever been confirmed that Brosnan is out? I've heard both, this seems to be more official.
I hope YKW doesn't get it for the very reasons Brosnan says he feels liberated. |

Coming out of lurkdom to post what I read over on MSN: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8984194/
Looks like Brosnan really is out as Bond. I'm one of the few that actually wanted to see Hugh play Bond, and was a little bummed when I read that he turned it down. I've now lost a bet to my husband...dang it!!! Oh well, now I just have to hold out hope that Gerry Butler will get it. |
